1992: (Year 33)

  • The 1st March roll was 1198, and 1st July 1191. The substantial drop in 3rd form numbers due to the drop in our contributing schools means it will be repeated again in 1993 as the effects of a local enrolment scheme take place. It was predicted that the roll would drop to around 1,000 in 2-3 years.
  • The Young Enterprise team won a $4,000 worth of computer equipment in a nation computer game.
  • Four students- Louise Bance, Dominic Roborgh, Robert Ryan and Catherine Eaddy participated in the 10-day Spirit of New Zealand course.
  • 19 Students take part in the annual OPC trip to Turangi.
  • Music:- Jazz Band(Hat'rix), 3rd form band, 4th form band, and senior concert band all operate. The Jazz band and senior concert band attended the New Zealand Concert Bands Association Festival in Auckland in August.
  • The Sheila Winn Shakespeare Festival team performed a scene from "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and  won the regional competition held at NPGHS and then represented Taranaki at the national finals in Wellington in June
  • Maori Culture group:- 17 members continue to develop the programme.
  • 30th June-1st July annual sports exchange against Fraser HS away. 9 codes played:- Badminton, Basketball, Cycling, Golf, Hockey, Netball, Rugby, Soccer, and Volleyball.
  • Sports teams: Badminton; 10 Boys' & 5 Girls' Basketball; Boys' & Girls' Cricket; Cycling; Golf; 2 Boys' & 1 Girls' Hockey; Netball; Rugby; Girls' Soccer; Skiing; Tennis; Triathlon; Boys' & Girls' Volleyball.
  • 3-6 August, Spotswood hosts a Girls' Volleyball team from the USA, as part of the "Sport for Understanding" programme.
  • I.S.C.F: A small group enjoyed their meetings of Christian fellowship.
  • In December, Mr. Barry Watt( HOD Graphics & Technology) retired after 24 years(1968-1992) on the staff.
