1967: (Year 8)

  • The 8th year since our foundation and the roll has reached 980 (329 new 3rd formers).
  • The Library construction is completed (and was officially opened on 21st March, 1968).
  • Late-June: Stage One (6 classrooms) of B Block commenced.
  • No confirmation with regards the gymnasium although the finance is now available.
  • Pre-vocational course continues for 5th form students.
  • Mr. Miles Sutcliffe established an Experience Unit for children with Special Needs, initially based in S block then B block.
  • The Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme is introduced for 4th and 5th form Girls. 51 Girls gained their Bronze award.
  • 4th May: Cultural & Music visit from Tawa College.
  • In July the major Musical Production:- "Down In The Valley".
  • 14th October: The largest ever Search & Rescue party comb Mt. Egmont/Taranaki looking for 25 girls and 4 teachers from the Spotswood College Tramping Club who were reported missing on the rain-swept slopes.
  • 26th October: After running 3 heats of a Talent Quest, Class 5S3 hosts the finals with Craig Robertson declared the winner.
  • Sports exchanges continue with Manurewa HS, Freyberg HS and Tawa College.
  • Sports teams: 5 Rugby; 2 Soccer; 2 Boys' and 1 Girls' Hockey;
