1972: (Year 13)

  • Some sign that the building programme is coming to an end. A Music suite and office administration is set down for 1973.
  • February: Plans finalised and tenders called for building of B Block extension.
  • Enrolments for 1973 are down.
  • Musical: Brass Band, Orchestra, Madrigal Singers all active.
  • Senior & Junior Debating Clubs continue. The seniors beat Te Awamutu and Tawa Colleges and the Cup for the best speaker went to Malcolm Giles.
  • The Catamaran Club now possesses two eleven foot cataramans suitably named McPhail's Navy One and Two.
  • Tramping Club enjoy a range of excursions.
  • On 29th August, 29 students and staff embark on the annual South Island tour.
  • Sports teams: Basketball; Cricket; Hockey, Netball; Rugby; Soccer; Softball; and Volleyball.
  • The Rugby First XV beat F.D.M.C. for the first time 9-3.
  • Inter school games; Cricket vs Tawa at Pukekura Park, with Netball and  Rugby vs Freyberg at Spotswood.
  • Students enrolled this year will present for six subject at the School Certificate level in the fifth form.
  • Duke of Edinburgh Award - 15 Bronze, 6 Silver and 3 Gold awards
