The school roll jumps to 1480, and leads to a re-structure of the senior management team. A big drop in the roll at Devon Intermediate will see a smaller 3rd form intake in 1977(approx 100 less).

8th-12th March -5th form Woodwork group does a 5-day in-depth study of modern woodworking practices in Rotorua.

PTA Gala day raised $3,400 that was required to complete the payment of the new canteen that was officially opened during the year.

Debating, Interact groups continue. 

Music:- Brass Band, Concert Band, Madrigal Singers and Orchestra continue. On 15th August all groups leave to visit Tawa HS. 

Sports teams:- 3 Cricket, 2 Hockey; 6 Indoor Basketball; 6 Rugby; 3 Netball; 2 Volleyball. Sports trips to Freyberg and Tawa continue.
